Was John the Baptist or Solomon greater than Jesus?

In the third chapter of 1 Kings, God appears to Solomon in a dream and asks him what he would like the Lord to give him (1 Kings 3:5). So a couple of verses later, Solomon asks for wisdom (1 Kings 3:9). Then, God gave him his wish, but also said, to paraphrase (from 1 Kings 3:12):

I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had before or will ever have again.

This, to anyone taking a literal interpretation of the Bible, means that Jesus could not possibly have been wiser than Solomon. Then of course, he wakes up (1 Kings 3:15).

Moving on, in Matthew 11:11, Jesus says very clearly that John was the greatest who ever lived. This chapter talks about how John was the messenger (and possibly who the prophesies in the old Testament were really referring to) who inspired people the most. Is it John who should be getting all the credit, and not Jesus?
