A response to http://www.creationmoments.com/radio/listen.php?t=2536

A copy of the article that Creation Moments talks about can be found online. There are multiple errors the radio podcast is making:

  • According to the Wikipedia article on ice age:
  • The earliest hypothesized ice age, called the Huronian, was around 2.7 to 2.3 billion years ago during the early Proterozoic Eon.
  • The earth is currently in an interglacial, and the last glacial period ended about 10,000 years ago.
  • These dates are about 8000 years too early.
  • The article itself says that there is much criticism of this claim.
  • Creation Moments is drawing conclusions based on old evidence. The Science News article was published in 1989. There’s nothing new as the article’s title misleads you to believe.
  • The article says that the seas rose 84,000 cubic kilometers. That’s 20,152.6717 cubic miles! According to the verse Creation Moments supplied (Genesis 7:20), the flood only went up 15 cubits over the highest mountain. That’s 6.8 meters. The highest mountain is Mount Everest, which is about 5.5 miles high. The physics here are impossible. Unless the Ark was flying in space, this is just not possible.

My calculations could be incorrect in that last point, so if they are, feel free to correct me.
