Now, courageous Gov. Scott Walker has told Obama to simply butt out!

But Obama is not listening. As I write this, Obama’s pals in the big public employee unions are pouring in millions to thwart Gov. Walker and the duly elected legislature.

Already, Obama’s bloated public employee unions are about to launch a salvo of TV attack ads in Wisconsin aimed at Gov. Walker.

Politico reports: “Unions are going up in the air in the state with the first ad on the standoff, hammering Governor Scott Walker.”

“The ad was created by advisers to the national AFL-CIO, SEIU, and AFSCME, … and it was paid for by the Wisconsin AFL-CIO.”

The fact is, Team Obama are desperate to break the back of Governor Scott Walker’s courageous resolve.

This is why the League of American Voters is urgently launching a national effort to help Gov. Walker and to stop these bloated unions.

We are planning to run an emergency campaign of radio ads across the state, exposing the unions’ real agenda.

Our work is critically important because Obama has dispatched his troops to Wisconsin from the Democrat National Committee, Moveon.org, and even the Rev. Jessie Jackson to fire-up the mob of demonstrators.

They are pouring millions into Wisconsin.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Try as I might to explain the irrelevance of philosophy in today’s world, these people continue to waste their time studying it. Philosophy asks questions like “what is the purpose of the universe?” among countless others. Questions like this are meaningless and there is no grounds to answer the question sufficiently. Philosophy is not science, otherwise it would have outgrown itself, instead of being the anachronism that it is.

Faith is seen as a holistic orientation, and is concerned with the individual’s relatedness to the universal:

• Stage 0 – “Primal or Undifferentiated” faith (birth to 2 years), is characterized by an early learning of the safety of their environment (i.e. warm, safe and secure vs. hurt, neglect and abuse). If consistent nurture is experienced, one will develop a sense of trust and safety about the universe and the divine. Conversely, negative experiences will cause one to develop distrust with the universe and the divine. Transition to the next stage begins with integration of thought and languages which facilitates the use of symbols in speech and play.
• Stage 1 – “Intuitive-Projective” faith (ages of three to seven), is characterized by the psyche’s unprotected exposure to the Unconscious.
• Stage 2 – “Mythic-Literal” faith (mostly in school children), stage two persons have a strong belief in the justice and reciprocity of the universe, and their deities are almost always anthropomorphic.
• Stage 3 – “Synthetic-Conventional” faith (arising in adolescence) characterized by conformity
• Stage 4 – “Individuative-Reflective” faith (usually mid-twenties to late thirties) a stage of angst and struggle. The individual takes personal responsibility for their beliefs and feelings.
• Stage 5 – “Conjunctive” faith (mid-life crisis) acknowledges paradox and transcendence relating reality behind the symbols of inherited systems
• Stage 6 – “Universalizing” faith, or what some might call “enlightenment”.

And by the way – for the record, I hate the Queen (as do most Brits), prefer coffee to tea (again, as do the majority) and have perfect teeth.

It’s been over a year since the infamous Citizens United case which opened the floodgates for the massive support of corporate agenda setting Republican takeover of Congress. And while it didn’t work in every state, it did enough to stall our government even further from making the improvements necessary for reversing the damage set forth by President Bush. Why is it that we got so much done in the lame-duck session last December?

I had a discussion with a self-identified independent yesterday where I compared al-Qa’ida’s motives with the motives of ultra-conservatives. He of course didn’t like this and began a paranoid rant of how Obama’s “socialist propaganda machine” may lead to him taking ultimate control of our country. He also felt highly uncomfortable about my comparisons. Fear has replaced truth as a source of comfort in this country.

Why is the media in this country dead? The answer is corporatism. When Al Jazeera, a foreign media head, has better coverage of the outrage in Egypt than our own CNN, you know something is wrong. CNN yesterday was to be applauded for its reporting and first-hand video of the riots in Egypt, but this weekend, it appears to have run out of steam and is conducting business as usual again. 90% of American media is right-wing. Going all the way back to the Koch Brothers, we have the source of the Tea Party’s agenda. The Tea Party is a patsy coalition of under-educated individuals whom I truly do think is concerned by the direction this country is going, but is too un-focused to know where the truth lies. The majority of the American population watches either CNN or Fox News or MSNBC. While it has been confirmed that watching Fox News makes you less informed (PDFs of the report included in this e-mail), neither CNN nor MSNBC are completely on top of their games. People don’t watch C-SPAN–which one can get in a variety of ways, cable, satellite radio, by dialing a number on your cell phone, as well as others–people don’t read the paper or journals or magazines. In Sociology, we call this “indirect spectatorism” (ironically but coincidentally, also a Scientology phrase). As comedian Roger Price said, “someone else is even doing our watching for us.” He was referring to sports, but the same is true for politics. You see only what the commentator shows you. This indirect spectatorism is the main cause of the division in our country. Despite the classic communications formula for the sender-receiver relationship, only one variable actually exists in this case: the receiver. There is no debate between the commentator and the viewer of the program. The average American doesn’t take the time to discern the truth of what he is told.

The Republicans have set themselves up in the media as the party of the Constitution. As long as cheese-fingered John Boehner continues to cry and disregard anything he sees as “liberal” (that nasty, disgusting neo-swear word), his supporters will follow the leader. But the Republican Party is not a party of the Constitution. If we are to discuss the idea in historical terms, the Federalists at the Constitutional Convention were classical liberals. They were for small yet centralized government. They were for abolishing any tyrannical power held by the government. As any historian or political scientist would tell you, modern-day conservatism is not compatible in any way with classical liberalism.

So again, I ask you, how long will it take for Americans to start “walking like Egyptians”? What are you doing to help the country? What have you learned from the East?

What brought this to my attention? I was browsing through my Roku channels yesterday, and I noticed that there is a feed in the Liberty News Radio (an appropriately titled Conservative channel) archives titled “Operation Restore Christian America“. They say they love the Constitution, but at the same time want to change it. They say they love liberty, but only so much as they can deny others the same. They say they love freedom. But really, they do not.

With outlets such as Fox News, they distort the truth. Take Glenn Beck for example. As one of many, poisoning the airwaves, he advocates and furthers their toxic agenda. Glenn Beck, that anti-progressive glutton for murder, has villainized history and heroes. He’s done it so much and for so long that he has passed from delusional to dangerous. With statements such as “I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I’m wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. It is a wonder how he has so many followers. But then again, we must remember that any false prophet who proclaims himself to be the next Martin Luther King will only gather other like-minded uneducated people.

How is it that we have gotten this far off track? The obstruct-and-blame-Democrats game has gone far enough. It is time to inject truth back into society. And what is the truth that conservatives are afraid of? The truth-truth? Let’s begin with two examples:

We are not, and never will be, a Christian nation. This myth needs to die. For the people who repeat it are the furthest from “Christian”, and only propagate it for authoritarian and dominionistic purposes. Religion is a personal thing, and they need to respect others’ privacies. A look at Iran will give you all you need to know of what America could be if we were to fuse church and state. We do not legislate morality! We do not waste tax payer’s money on unnecessary projects such as placing prayer into school, or teaching the Bible in school. Next, we are a nation that has the government work for us, not the other way around. Small government is something that everyone says they want. But if you look at what conservatives want to change in the way our country works, it’s not small government at all that they want. How is enforcing live births to every baby regardless of privacy a small government thing? How is enforcing that everyone is of one religion a small government thing? How is enforcing the criminalization of drugs a small government thing? Answer: the conservatives are massively hypocritical in their definition of small government. “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” -Thomas Jefferson.

No, the way that the government is doing things is thuggish. With tactics such as the one Obama is doing now, the government is in no position to be fearing, only feared. Obama is negotiating with terrorists, something that this country is not supposed to do. The Republicans have stated “no compromise.” And when that’s been declared, we are not dealing with disciplined adults anymore. We are dealing with a party that has one thing in their cross hairs: control.

The Tea Party is not being fed the truth. The word “Tea” itself has been described as a bacronym for “Taxed Enough Already”. Is this not proof that the Republican Party is betraying its own supporters with the Bush tax cut extensions? The tax extensions will only really effect the top 2%. How treacherous will the Republicans be in order for the Tea Partiers realize that the Republican Party is not on their side? The plutocracy is on their own side only.

Until conservatives realize, accept, and confess that they are wrong, the educated community will never accept them as American patriots. And even then, it won’t be enough. For we demand an apology to go with these first steps. Even further than that. We demand our liberties and freedoms back.
